Kidney Problems
In view of the vital functions of the kidney, it is not surprising that when the kidneys fail, complex
life-threatening complications result. Renal failure may be acute or chronic. The onset of acute
renal failure is relatively rapid, but the injury to the renal tissue may be partially or completely
reversible. By contrast, chronic renal failure develops as a result of a progressive, irreversible
tissue damage resulting in irreversible nephron loss.
